LET'S TALK ABOUT REDUCING OUR CARBON EMISSIONS

At Sekurit Service we’re acknowledging European Sustainable Development Week, 26 – 30 September, 2022 by creating our own Sustainability Week  - with a programme of activities and knowledge transferring.

It’s a great way to share some of our initiatives and goals in our collective engagement towards sustainability to support the Saint-Gobain purpose of making the world a better and more sustainable place to live.

Sustainability is the cornerstone of Saint-Gobain’s strategy and as part of the family, Sekurit Service share in this and have an ambitious sustainability roadmap towards 2050.

Reducing the carbon footprint of our factories

Greenhouse gas emissions are categorised into three groups or scopes by the most widely-used international accounting tool, the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. We aim to reduce all three:

  • By 2025, Scope 1 and Scope 2 will be reduced by 75% in absolute terms compared to the 2019 baseline. From 22.000 to 0 tons for our plant in Tartu, Estonia and from 11.000 to 8.000 tons for our plant in Zary, Poland. By 2030, CO2 emissions from both scopes will be reduced by 100%.
  • From the beginning of 2022, 100% of the electricity used in our Estonian factory is now sourced from green energy.
  • We’re currently evaluating and reducing our Scope 3 emissions (upstream and downstream throughout our value chain) for raw materials, transport, waste and more.

Getting it right, on time

At Sekurit Service we’re already making important commitments to our sustainability roadmap. The fight against climate change is a fight against the clock, so we know that time is of the essence. With every action we take, we pay particular attention to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), so as to make progress in evaluating the real impacts that we can have in working towards a fairer, more sustainable world.
